Fabric or Leather?

OK, as some of you might know, I just bought an apartment and is dying to decorate it. There's this 3 month interim where I have to wait for papers to finalized, names to be changed, loan to be fully released. However, there's no stopping me from surveying around for furniture, eh?

My first dilemma, whether to get a fabric or leather sofa. Most of my friends lean towards leather, knowing what a slob i am. :-p But personally, I prefer Fabric, microfibre to be precise. Well my choice is well justified.

1. Leather sofa designs out there are really dated and bulky, when personally, I prefer streamlined designs.

2. Even though it's easier to maintain, but when it comes to leather, I prefer 'em WHITE. So that didn't help.

3. Full leather sofa can be pricey. I'm not sure I'm willing to compromise on other furniture, given my tight budget.

4. Half leather, you say, wait, doesn't that mean half "fake" leather? I abhor imitation. Hmmm...

5. Fabric sofa with slip covers is versatile. You can change colours and moods whenever you want with a change of cover. But the changing part can be troublesome and tiring. Again, I'm a slob.

6. Fabric sofa is just much MORE comfortable than leather. And it makes the room look cozier, don't you think?

7. What about upholstered sofa? Hmmm...

8. What about colour? Hmmm....

9. Brand to go for? I went sofa shopping for 3 weekends now and still can't settle for one particular design. Here's my shortlist:

Cellini's Sofa:
They have a package deal promo going on, pick one of these sofa set, a queen bed frame + mattress, only for RM5,000. A further 5% disc if you pay by Hong Leong or HSBC Credit Card. I'm soooo tempted!!!!

Such sleek design...Can change to Fabric. It's faux leather now.

Fabric Sofa set with bookshelves on the side. I like how it's so low-maintenance. Can change floral print.

Lorenzo's Sofa:
They are having great discounts on some of the display set/items. I'm not sure I'll like to buy a display sofa set. The idea kind of grosses me out.

RM3,456. I love this a lot. Very posh.

This is a display set going for RM2,100. White is quite hard to maintain, but the price is unbeatable. A brand new set (can change colour) cost RM2,700.

Future Sofa:
They are known leather sofa manufacturer but have some nice fabric sofa too....

This is the only one i shortlisted thought. RM3,400

I'm still very much undecided, but if I really want the Cellini's, i have to decide within this month as the promo ends 30 June. Sigh~~~~~

11 in 111

I saw an interesting list in one of the blogs i like, so i figured I'll make one too. :-) But mine will be a short-term list, 11 things to do in 111 days. I think it's a brilliant way to have a target list for a procrastinator like me. (hehe). I'm sure the imagined satisfaction of checking things off this list will eventually move my sorry arse to actually follow through the "ideas" in my head.

1. "Rescue" a furniture. I want a coffee table badly and I see potential in the ugly bamboo coffee table at my parents'.

This pic is from Apartment #412. The blogger's ingenious way to rescue this bamboo table really inspires me.

2. Start a DIY project like this with sis. OK, I'm no handygirl but i think it's relatively easy to do this with my sis, over several weekends. I mean, what's better way to be reminded of how life can be good, really good?

This pic is from Apartment #412 again. What can I say? I love her blog!

3. Paint my kitchen cabinets, doors and small built-in cabinets in the Living "Heirloom White" like this. The current grey custom-made by the previous owner is so depressing even though the apartment is bright and airy.

4. Sort my travel photos and display it on one of the walls (I'm thinking foyer) in my apartment like this.

Wow, I didn't think it'll be difficult to list 11 things at first. But hey, one thing at a time they say. I'll update this list along the way.

Back to where I "belong"????

Aiks! So much for creating a blog and leaving it to "rot" after 2 entries!!! I'm guilty as charged. Life in Europe was by far exciting. Here are 2 pics from my 2 months stay in Paris. For more pics, click here.

1st Stop: Paris ~July, 2008~

Ancient Clock in Musee d'Orsay, Paris, with MontMartre in the "middle"

Moulin Rouge, MontMartre, Paris

I was too busy flirting to write anything (right....). 2 years have passed and I'm back to my homeland for what 10 months now? I'm seriously running out of excuses NOT to update my blog this time...

So what's new with my life back in Malaysia? Let's see, I went back to work for my previous company (conveniently forgetting the reason why i left 2 years back) last Aug, left the company AGAIN (yes!!!) a month ago. Yup! 10 months of my life, wasted, if not for a bunch of nice friends I made there. Miss ya guys loads!!

Oh did I mention I started a new job in a branded music solutions consultancy film, sold my beloved 540 square feet studio, which I've waited for 5 years for its completion (due to complete in a month or 2, the irony is not lost) for RM205K and bought a 1,148 square feet, 2-bedroom (was 3) apartment for RM218K, all these MAJOR changes, within a span of a month? What can I say? I redefine STRESS.

Legal fees (selling AND buying), property-gained tax, bank loan penalty, real estate agent's commission, MRTA notwithstanding, it's a TOTAL bargain to double-up the space of my supposed dream home (still a blueprint in my mind) for a mere RM13K extra won't you say? What? Not really? Oh c'mon, need I repeat the point that my sister is the ONLY accountant in the family? :-p

Wokay, enough of updates and this blog, should fill the gaps between my previous entries and paves way to "stuff" I'm DYING to blog about since a week (or 2?) ago. More about that, soon...

zzzzzZZZ.... xoxo

My heart is bleeding.....

I can feel my heart bleeding ever since I started keeping a rough travelling expenditure calculation in my HEAD (ok, sis is an "almost-accountant" here, not ME!). Here it goes:

One-way Flight ticket KL-London: USD 587 (stupid Maybank charged me RM1,912)
Return Eurostar ticket London-Paris-London: GBP94 (approx RM600)
2 months spending money in Paris: Euro 900+ (will exchange RM5,000)
Spare change during short stopover in London: GBP100+ (will exchange RM700)
New Canon IXUS for European memories: RM299 (hehe... mum subsidize RM600)

Total: RM8,511 ALREADY?????

My stress will go on.....

060708 - A new beginning...

060708, I'll say it's a nice number, 678, don't you think? Come this 6 July, I'll be embarking onto a journey of self-discovery, a chance to start afresh, to get away from the everyday mundaneness. What does the future holds? I often wonder.

A friend told me an interesting notion yesterday. He said and I quote:"The world itself doesn't really change much. It's how you view it and what is going on inside you that determines your happiness. But it's more than attitude and perspectives. It's about how you align yourself with your ultimate path." Such wise words. And here I am, all set and aligned, if I may, towards Europe, towards the unknown.

There's no turning back now. There's no backing out now. It's the 11th hour and I'm all set to explore the world beyond. Some might see me a rebel, an idealist, but life is too short to be wasted, trapped within a cubicle, working day in and day out for what, some greens? some status? some recognition? This time, I've known better. I am my own boss. I'll either make it or break it. Either way, it's my life. I have myself to be accounted for. So here's the plan. Go with the flow. Stay adrift. Don't land in deep shit.

Europe awaits...
